Involving Children and Young People
My 25 years of working with children and young people has developed my skills and approach; helping me to build relationships, hear their voices and share in their memories. I can empower children and young people if they choose to play a role in the ceremony, I can support them so that this is safe. This could be choosing a poem, song or story, sharing their own words or handing out their loved one’s favourite chocolate or recipe.
I can meet children and young people and complete a session to share in their memories and what their loved one meant to them; to ensure that their voice is weaved into the ceremony.
I am passionate about supporting children and young people to start to process their grief. This is supported by my therapeutic approach and a wealth of resources I use such as sand bottles, memory jars, colouring and collages.
Following the service, I will provide children and young people with a personalised pack to support them around their loss, appropriate for their age and needs.
